In February 2011, the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia presented its Trade Union Minimum Basket.
Even then, the average wage still covers about 70 to 80 percent of the Trade Union Minimum Basket.
According to CCM, the Trade Union Minimum Basket is a more realistic model for calculating the living cost. The base for calculation of the basket is the value of the consumer basket prepared by the State Statistical Office. The value of the that basket includes 63 products, however, food and drinks are not the only cost for the normal functioning of a family.
The supposed household type is a family of four, living in a 50-square-meter home that does not own a car.
The trade union minimum basket includes seven groups:
-food and drinks
-housing
-hygiene
-transport
-clothes and shoes
-culture
-maintenance and health.
