15.07.2020 Non working day in the country due to the elections

The Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia points out that July 15, the day of the parliamentary elections, has been declared a non-working day by the Government for all citizens throughout the country.

According to the Constitution, every citizen over the age of 18 acquires the right to vote, which he/ she exercises in free elections.

Article 148 of the Labor Law stipulates that the employee has the right to leave from work with compensation of salary for public holidays, which are defined as days off from work.

If the production process takes place continuously, the employer is obliged to notify the regional state labor inspector in writing.

The Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia points out that according to Article 24 paragraph 2 of the General Collective Agreement for the private sector for work on holidays and non-working days determined by law, the employee has the right to compensation of his salary and increased salary for the hours at work increased by %.
