Today in the Regulatory Commission for Energy and Water Services, the President of the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia, Darko Dimovski, had a meeting with the President of the Commission, Marko Bislimoski and the President of the Confederation of Trade Union Organizations, Marjan Risteski.
On the meeting the proposal of the Commission to expand the list of citizens covered by subsidies for energy poverty, with those affected by the health crisis, was discussed in order to protect the vulnerable consumers affected by the Covid crisis.
SSM stressed that it will review this proposal will also submit proposals for the protection of these citizens, after which the talks will continue on further meetings to which civil society organizations will be also invited.
It is a mechanism that involves temporarily expanding the existing list of compensation for energy poverty with people directly affected by the health crisis. We need to help the most vulnerable, not subsidize the rich - this is also a joint recommendation of the ERC and the Secretariat of the Energy Community. Institutions must consider which proposed solutions are applicable: expanding the list of citizens with subsidies, reducing VAT on electricity consumption etc.
The President of ERC Bislimoski informed that the Regulatory Commission puts its capacity to be a support to SSM in the process of negotiations and discussions on the meetings of the Economic and Social Council.
