The minimum wage to be increased along with the increase of the average wage

The average salary in Macedonia covers about 70% of the union minimum basket now and even in the period when we first started to calculate the Trade Union Minimum Basket.

If we take into account that the trade union minimum basket for January 2021 is 33.650 MKD, out of which at least 14.000 MKD are only for food and beverages, meaning that a worker who works for the minimum wage earns only for bread and water, and if 2 workers from one family work for a minimum wage, they lack 3.782 MKD up to the amount of the basket to provide only the necessary things for survival, and not for a normal life.

Our commitment is the minimum wage to rise to 60% of the average wage, which is actually a European tendency and this is the case in all European countries.

As CCM, we have already provided systemic solution through collective agreements by determining the value of labor through coefficients, but unfortunately in the past in companies that do not have Unions this was not applied and most employers who pay wages in the amount of the minimum salary, they do not pay salary supplements and allowances, but they calculate them in the amount of the minimum wage of the workers, which is not legal.

We must work together for the recovery of the economy, and in the coming period we need greater realization of capital investments, as well as serious efforts to create new jobs and stimulate employers, all with one goal, not to let our Macedonian workers instead of building the Macedonian economy, to contribute to the development of the Western European countries due to the feeling that their labor is not being valued in their own country.
