Pressures on the Union must stop immediately!

Today, the President of SSM, Darko Dimovski and the President of the Macedonian Police Union (MPS), Marjan Kicev held a press conference at which the following was presented:

The Minister, Nake Culev, exerts direct pressures on the union, forms a parallel union in the Ministry of Interior and sends inspectors to the sessions of the highest bodies of SSM.
The Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia (SSM) today accused the Minister of Interior, Nake Culev, of exercising pressure on the union and forming a parallel union in the Ministry in order to silence the Macedonian Police Union.

President Darko Dimovski at a press conference asked Minister Chulev, as he said, to "remove his hands" from the union and announced that the sessions of the highest bodies of SSM, are held in the presence of inspectors from the Ministry of Interior.

"It is unacceptable for us because it violates the Convention No. 87 for freedom of association and therefore we are forced to inform all relevant domestic and foreign institutions and we will ask for help this interference of government institutions in the organization and operation of SSM to stop", said Dimovski.

He informed that in the past two weeks he had been personally summoned to the police station twice and was informed that criminal charges had been filed against him.

"No one can threaten the union. We have program goals and we will fulfill them, said Dimovski, appealing that the laws must be respected.

The President of the Macedonian Police Union, Marjan Kicev pointed out that in March at a meeting in the Cabinet of the Minister they received a direct threat that if they do not stop with theri demands, a new union will be formed.

"Unfortunately, the threat we received in the Cabinet of Minister is becoming a reality. On April 29, a new, third police union was registered in the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy and on May 13, it was registered in the Central Register, and on 2.06 with a contract contrary to the legal regulations and the collective agreement of the Ministry of Interior, they signed a cooperation agreement.

He pointed out that in the past period they have procured and distributed protective equipment such as masks, visors and disinfectants for their colleagues in the field.

"We have provided personal protective equipment that the Ministry of Interior should have provided," said Kicev.
