The payment of annual leave recourse is established in the General Collective Agreement for the private sector and is mandatory for the workers. The employers are obliged to pay it accordingly by the end of the year.
The Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia together with the Organization of Employers, with the signing of the Agreement on Amendments to the GCA for the Private Sector in 2013, regulated the right to annual leave recourse for private sector employees.
The annual leave recourse is a right established through a dialogue between the workers 'representatives in the specific case, the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia and the employers' representatives - OEM, and since it is a matter of law governed by a collective agreement, it is expected employers to fully fulfill their obligation.
Pursuant to Article 35 of the GCA for the private sector, the annual leave recourse is paid at least 40% of the base, provided that the worker has worked for the company at least 6 months in the same calendar year at the same employer.
