SSM demands continuation of financial assistance for payment of salaries

At today's session, the Economic and Social Council discussed and reviewed the concept of the fifth package of economic measures to help and support the economy and citizens.

The President of SSM, Darko Dimovski presented the proposals of SSM to the other social partners and once again stressed that the fifth package of measures must continue with the financial support for payment of wages in order not to jeopardize the jobs of workers in the affected sectors.

In the proposals submitted to the Government, SSM requested:

1. The government to provide financial assistance and support to companies that will not be able to carry out business ventures due to the virus or will do so at a significantly reduced scale, primarily and exclusively to provide funds for workers' wages. SSM seeks wage subsidies as measure to continue where production is reduced as set out in the fourth package of measures, but to be paid directly to workers' accounts.
2. Workers who used measures such as chronically ill, pregnant women, childcare up to 10 years, to be paid full salaries, without any reductions and at the same time care should be taken for mothers who used maternity leave, and their employment contract has ceased on any grounds, they to have the right to paid maternity leave.
3. SSM again proposes the salary compensation for absence from work due to infection with Covid-19, isolation and self isolation to be 100% of the base determined by law.
4. Public procurement by the State bodies, exclusively from domestic companies that did not unjustifiably dismiss workers and did not abuse the financial support for payment of salaries.

CCM points out that the fifth package of measures should be aimed at preserving jobs and recovering of the economy.
