Upon request of SSM, the Economic and Social Council accepted the proposal of SSM for ratification of ILO Convention 190

The Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia on the occasion of the International Day against Violence against Women launched a campaign to ratify the ILO CONVENTION 190 with the support of our fraternal unions ETUC and ITUC, as well as the International Labor Organization - ILO.

The proposal of SSM for ratification of the ILO Convention 190, was unanimously accepted by all social partners at today's session of the Economic and Social Council.

The Convention recognises that violence and harassment in the world of work “can constitute a human rights violation or abuse, is a threat to equal opportunities, is unacceptable and incompatible with decent work.” It defines “violence and harassment” as behaviours, practices, or threats “that aim at, result in, or are likely to result in physical, psychological, sexual or economic harm.”

This convention applies to all sectors, whether private or public, in both the formal and informal economies, urban or rural areas.

By this it is once again confirmed that SSM is the only protector of workers' rights.
