We must protect workers in the textile companies in Stip

The Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia appeals to the Municipal Crisis Headquarters - Stip, the Mayor of Stip, Blagoj Bochvarski, as well as to all competent institutions, when making Decisions to close companies, in order to protect public health, to take care also for the right to adequate income of workers during closure of companies.

We point out that for the strategies, policies and decisions that we will make together, everyone's responsibility will be greater, and accountability will be mandatory.

Employers are required to take all measures to protect health of workers both at work and when organizing the transport to and from work, otherwise they are subject to liability for the consequences of workers' health for which in the last period we are all witnesses

We urge the inspection services to take all legal measures to prevent such occurrences in a timely manner.

We remind you that the right to adequate earnings determined in the provision of Article 32 paragraph 3 of the Constitution of the Republic of North Macedonia is an economic right of workers and no one can reduce it contrary to the Law and Collective Agreement.

Pursuant to the Labor Law, Article 112, paragraph 1 “The employee has the right to compensation of salary for the entire period of absence in the cases and duration determined by law, as well as in cases when he/she does not work due to reasons on the employer's side. ", And in accordance with paragraph 9 of the same article," The employer is obliged to pay the employee a salary allowance for days and hours, in the same amount when he/she does not work for justified reasons. "

Now that workers are back in their jobs, safety and health at work must be a top priority.

We will not allow "new normal" time to mean reduced wages, layoffs and non-compliance with employment rights.

We encourage workers to organize themselves professionally, to report any violation of workers 'rights, so that SSM can prevent such negative phenomena and violations of workers' rights in the future.
