WORKING MEETING BETWEEN CCM AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA

At the request of the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia today, on November 22, 2018, a meeting in the Government of the Republic of Macedonia was held, attended by representatives of the Presidency of CCM led by the President of CCM, Darko Dimovski and representatives of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia led by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Macedonia, Zoran Zaev.

On this meeting several important issues have been discussed such as the promotion of workers’ rights, the draft version of the new Labor Law and the involvement of the unions in its preparation, the functioning of the tripartite social dialogue, possibilities for raising wages in the Republic of Macedonia, including the minimum wage, collective bargaining and conclusion of collective agreements for the public and private sector, public administration reforms etc.

The President of CCM, Darko Dimovski stressed that today's meeting establishes the practice of holding regular meetings between SSM and the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, which are of exceptional significance for the promotion of the social dialogue, since it opens the opportunity to discuss issues that affect workers and trade unions.

The President Dimovski have presented CCM’s proposals referring to promotion of workers’ rights in the text of the draft version of the Labor Law, as well as the procedure for concluding a new General Collective Agreement for the private sector in the field of economy to the President of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Zoran Zaev, the Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Mila Carovska and the Deputy Minister of Information Society and Administration, Aleksandar Bajdevski

The President of CCM and the Presidents of the public sector unions emphasized the need for concluding a new General Collective Agreement for the public sector, for which the Government expressed its readiness to start the negotiation process.

Also, the branch unions affiliated in CCM on this meeting presented their views and problems being faced with in the everyday practice and have suggested relevant proposals and measures for further activities.

The representatives of CCM and the Government of the Republic of Macedonia expressed satisfaction with the constructiveness of today's working meeting and jointly stated that there is a need for regular meetings at this level, since such direct meetings between CCM and the Government of the Republic of Macedonia have not been held for more than 12 years.
