The Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia in cooperation with the MLSP on 17.06.2019 organized a workshop regarding the Law on Prevention and Protection against Discrimination. The law is published in the Official Gazette no. 101 of May this year (2019) and it is the result of a broad discussion of the social partners, the civil society and the academia.
CCM have participated in the activities for amending the Law on Prevention and Protection against Discrimination with their own suggestions and remarks.
The goal was to adopt a law that would remove all inconsistencies for more efficient application and achievement of the results in the field of equality and non-discrimination.
The organized workshop allowed the present members of the trade unions to gain knowledge about the Law on Prevention and Protection against Discrimination, in order to raise the level of preventive action in this area, because only trained membership can recognize the forms of discrimination and undertake activities for prevention and protection.
The workshop was also attended by the secretaries and coordinators of the regional trade union offices in the country, as well as trade union representatives and legal representatives from the unions affiliated in CCM, who gained direct knowledge of the Law on Prevention and Protection against Discrimination in providing free legal protection for their membership.
The topic of equality and non-discrimination will be a continuous part of the activities of CCM in the direction of improving the social dialogue and collective bargaining, improving the labor legislation and raising their own capacities and public awareness for recognizing all forms of discrimination and acquiring knowledge about the manner and procedure for protection against this negative phenomenon.
