The strike is organized for the protection of economic and social rights and the realization of the following demands from employment:
- conclusion of a General Collective Agreement for the public sector with a determined increase in the wages of employees in the public sector by MKD 2,806 in a net amount in accordance with the increase in the minimum wage published in Official Gazette of RSM no. 41 of February 24, 2022, and established the recourse for annual leaving in the amount of 30% to 100% of the base.
The deadline for fulfilling the requirements specified in the Decision on calling and starting a strike is 21.06.2022.
We remind you that on 29/07/2021 the Union of Trade Unions of Macedonia submitted to the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, the Prime Minister, a proposal for a General Collective Agreement for the public sector, and we were informed by the Government, that in order to realize our commitments, the letter with the proposal has been submitted for further competent action to MTSP. Although several meetings were held in relation to the SSM proposal for a new General Collective Agreement for the public sector, no conclusion was reached.
In addition, the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia in the past period requests an increase in salaries by 2806 denars in net for all public sector employees both at the local and central levels in accordance with the increase in the minimum salary published in the Official Gazette of RSM no. 41 of February 24, 2022. In this regard, Requests have been submitted to the Government of RSM, Prime Minister, Dimitar Kovachevski, Vice Prime Minister Fatmir Bitiqi, MTSP, Minister Jovanka Trenchevska, and Ministry of Finance, Minister Fatmir Besimi from 31.03.2022.
The proposal of the Union of Trade Unions of Macedonia, which demands an increase in the wages of all workers, is in the direction of:
- The basic net salary of employees in state and local government bodies and other state bodies established in accordance with the Constitution and the law and - institutions that perform activities in the fields of education, science, health, culture, labor, social protection, and child protection, sports, the army, the police as well as in other activities of public interest established by law, and organized as agencies, funds, public institutions and public enterprises founded by the Republic of Macedonia or by the municipalities, from the city of Skopje, as well as from the municipalities in the city of Skopje to increased by 2806 denars in net amount according to the increase of the minimum wage published in the Official Gazette of RSM no. 41 of February 24, 2022.
SSM believes that if the rebalancing of the budget is voted on without providing funds for increasing salaries in the public sector, in that case, it will not be possible to act in accordance with the law and there will be no funds for harmonizing the salaries of employees in the public sector even from 01.07.2022 year as the request of the SSM and the workers neither within the legal deadline for compliance and thus the SSM as the only representative of the workers in the public sector was put before an executive act and the Decision was made to call and start a strike.
