The Presidency consists of the President of the SSM, the Secretary of the Council of the SSM and the Presidents of the member unions.

Tasks and responsibilities of the Presidency are:

  • undertakes all necessary activities for the implementation of the Program and Statute of the SSM;
  • adopts positions and decisions for which it is competent and prepares draft decisions and other documents for which the Council is competent;
  • coordinates the activities of the SSM and the unions at all levels when it comes to joint tasks;
  • The Presidency informs the Council about its work;
  • submits proposals to the Council for a candidate for the President of the SSM, Secretary of the Council and Vice-Presidents;
  • proposes the Council's agenda;
  • proposes amendments and supplements to the Statute of the SSM to the Council;
  • organizes legal protection at the level of the SSM;
  • regularly monitors economic, social and other issues regarding the position of the membership and all workers and undertakes specific activities;
  • reviews the initiatives of the trade unions and, at its own discretion, enters them into procedure;
  • determines the text and gives consent for signing the general collective agreements;
  • makes a decision on the internal organisation of the SSM;
  • ensures and implements cooperation of the SSM with domestic and other international trade union organisations and associations and the non-governmental sector for the achievement of common goals and tasks;
  • organises training and education of trade union representatives;
  • makes appointments, gives consent for appointment and election and carries out dismissals in accordance with this Statute;
  • appoints and dismisses the managers of trade companies, cooperatives, savings banks, banks, etc., established by the SSM;
  • organises the financial operations of the SSM, takes care of the union property and reviews and adopts the reports of the Supervisory Board;
  • organises the work of the Professional Service in the SSM;
  • organises the information activity of the SSM;
  • submits proposals and requests within its competence to state bodies, other state institutions and employers' organisations as social partners for laws and other acts relating to the material and social situation of workers;
  • adopts regulations and acts and a Code of Conduct;
  • forms committees and bodies on certain issues;
  • and performs other tasks entrusted to it by the Council.
