The increase in prices and the growth of inflation, which is increasing from month to month and for this month of June is 14.5%, affects the reduction of the purchasing power of workers and leads to the impoverishment of the entire population.

According to SSM's analysis, the increase in the minimum union basket is increasing due to the enormous increase in prices. The biggest increase is in food and beverages by 3.6% compared to the previous month of May 2022, while compared to the previous year 2021, the same month increased by 21.2%.

The union minimum basket for the month of June amounts to 39,710.00 denars and from January 2022 (Den 35,811.00) it has increased by MKD 3,399.00, i.e. 9.49%.

In just one year or from the previous year 2021, in the same month of June, when the union minimum basket was 34,212.00 denars, it has increased by 5,498.00 denars, i.e. 16%.

From month to month, the cost of living for a family of four is increasing drastically, the salaries are not following the same growth. The same is shown by the calculation of the union minimum basket that SSM calculates every month.

That is why SSM rightfully demands an increase in the wages of all employees, both in the public and in the private sector, despite the recorded objections of certain entities that are against an increase in the wages of workers.

The SSM demands that this calculation of the union minimum basket, as well as the increase in the cost of living, be the reason to immediately approach the conclusion of the General Collective Agreement for the public sector with an increase in the wages of workers in accordance with the increase in the minimum wage and to increase the wages of at least 2,806.00 denars in net for each employee in the public sector.
