The poverty rate in Macedonia in 2024 was 21.9 percent, according to the latest data coming from the State Statistical Office.
The poverty threshold is set at 374.400 denars per year, or about 6,100 euros. This means that a family of four needs to have at least 31,200 denars per month to not be considered poor.
On the other hand the Government believes that the minimum wage in 2026 should only be adjusted by about 25 euros and to be around 26.000 denars or to be 5.200 denars below the poverty line.
They want the workers go to work and be productive and be poor.
