The Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia gives a full support to the Campaign of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) and shall be actively involved in the global action to convince the governments to support an ILO Convention and “Violence and harassment against women and men in the world of work”, which begins today, 14.2.2018 and it shall last 23 days until 8.3.2018.
The campaign objectives:
1. Build critical support for the adoption of an ILO Convention, accompanied by a Recommendation, on “Violence and harassment against women and men in the world of work”, with a strong focus on the gender dimension of violence; and
2. Mobilise and strengthen trade union action in eradicating gender based-violence from the world of work.
For years the unions have lobbied to adopt the ILO Convention “Violence and harassment against women and men in the world of work”. By the end of 2015, the ILO announced the beginning of the process of setting a standard for “Violence and harassment against women and men in the world of work”.
The first discussions will be held on the 107th session of the ILO Conference in June 2018. In preparing the discussions, the ILO held a meeting with experts to prevent violence against women and men in the world of labor.
CCM joins this Campaign and shall lobby to the Government of the Republic of Macedonia and the Organization of Employers of Macedonia to support the adoption of the ILO Convention with the Recommendation on “Violence and harassment against women and men in the world of work”, which shall be held in June 2018.
