1 YEAR SINCE THE GREAT LABOR PROTEST, 2 OF 3 DEMANDS MET

Union of Trade Unions of Macedonia on 12.12.2021 starting at 12.12 p.m. organized a large labor protest with three main demands:

- Sunday should be a non-working day

- the minimum wage should be increased to 18,000 denars

- to sign the General Collective Agreement for the public sector

In the cold and rainy weather, the large number of workers sent a serious message and presented the workers' demands to the Parliament, the Chamber of Commerce, the Organization of Employers of Macedonia, and the Government.

Although unfortunately the protest was not supported by other unions, SSM together with the workers fought for Sunday to become a non-working day for 92% of the workers from January 2022 and for the minimum wage to be increased to 18,000 denars from March 2022, which fulfilled two of the three labor requirements.

Unfortunately, this past year, the Government has shown itself to be a bad employer, still refusing to sign the General Collective Agreement for the public sector, where the vacation pay or the current K-15 for all public sector workers should have been determined, even though it was not is disputed and the provisions are agreed between the social partners.

To fulfill this request, as well as to prove whether the promises of the Government Ministers are just one big lie, there are still twenty days until the end of the year.

The Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia, after the deadline, will be forced to demand responsibility and resignations from the ministers who clearly and loudly said (lied and manipulated) that there will be a new General Collective Agreement for the public sector and that it will be signed by the end of this year. year, and for the new methodology for harmonizing i.e. the increase of all wages with the increase of the minimum wage, which methodology was supposed to be valid from January 1, 2023, and there is no "M" from it either!

The workforce is in its numbers organized in the Union of Trade Unions of Macedonia for a common fight against the injustice inflicted by employers, and local and central government.
