30 CASES OF MOBBING IN 2020, 10 IN THE PUBLIC AND 20 IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR

The number of reports of mobbing at work is worryingly growing if we take into account that in CCM during 2013 eight addresses were recorded, in 2014 seven addresses, in 2015 three addresses, and in 2016 one address on this basis, in 2017 and 2018, there were no addresses and in 2019 only one address was recorded.

The Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia on the other hand, has an organized service for free legal protection for employment rights, including workers' rights based on psychological harassment in the workplace.

The lawyers of CCM undertake all legal actions and procedures for protection of the labor rights of their membership.

It is characteristic that in CCM there are a number of addresses regarding harassment at work, but from people who are not members of the Union.

These data indicate that harassment in the workplace most often occurs in environments where workers are not unionized and educated about their rights - said Slobodan Trendafilov, chief of staff of the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia.

SSM clarifies that regarding the appeals, the legal service of CCM provided advice and instructions, in some cases appeals were prepared to the employer and to the person indicated as the perpetrator of the harassment. In three cases lawsuits were filed, and in one case a court procedure was conducted, which ended negatively. In some cases, the problems were amicably resolved through conversation and counseling, with the participation and mediation of the trade union representatives of CCM. The Trade Union also points out great difficulties regarding the implementation of the Law on Protection from Harassment at Work, which was adopted in 2013 on their initiative.

This year, in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, a debate is organized in the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia regarding the Law on Protection from Harassment at Work and the problems related to its implementation.

The participants in the event pointed out several problems related to the implementation of the Law on Protection from Harassment at Work and gave suggestions for improving the legislation in this area - says Trendafilov.
