Suppose the increase in workers' salaries that they are entitled to, which is 12.6% according to the General Collective Agreement for the Public Sector, as well as the need to increase the minimum wage to 500 euros and increase other salaries by 100 euros, will increase inflation. In that case, a 13.8% increase in the salary of an official probably also affects inflation, but it seems to reduce it (there is no other explanation).
A Decision was published in today's Official Gazette by which the salary of an official elected by the Government has been increased by 13.8%, i.e. the coefficient from 2.24 is increased to 2.55, or exactly as much as the funds foreseen in the budget for salary growth this year.
Let's take into account that the basis for calculating the salary of elected and appointed officials is the average salary for the previous year. My modest knowledge of mathematics says that:
41,239 den. x 2.24 = 92,375 den.
41,239 denars x 2.55 = 105,159 denars
A difference of 12,784 denars in salary increase from June 1, 2025, or a growth of 13.8%!
Everyone deserves a salary increase, but workers deserve more than officials, and if there is no increase in the salaries of workers, how is there an increase in the salaries of officials?
