The Union of SUTKOZ, which is the only representative Union of the workers in the catering and tourism sector, since the begining of the crisis warned that the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic would pass, and employers who abused the situation for their selfishness, and have not pay salaries to workers or paid them contrary to the law and the collective agreement, shall bear consequences.
The situation is even more dramatic in the hospitality sector, which suffered the biggest impact during the pandemic. The catering and tourism companies lack 50 percent of the required staff, primarily waiters, receptionists, cooks and assistant cooks, according to the results of an internal survey conducted by one of the chambers.
Since the beginning of the crisis, data show that 4.000-20.000 workers have left this catering sector.
SUTKOZ has alerted that workers must be respected and appreciated especially in times of crisis in order not to face the scenario that is currently happening in the tourism sector.
