Caption 1. Participants on the public debate
Within the frameworks of the project "Strengthening the partnership of civil society and state institutions in the creation and promotion of the right to safe and healthy working environment - Basic Human Right", organized by the Macedonian OHS association in cooperation with the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia on 25.01.2017 a cross sectoral debate on the topic "Promotion of the bipartite dialogue on health and safety at work in the companies and consideration of the key recommendations of the Study on the functioning of the bipartite dialogue" was held.
This public debate was attended by the President of the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia, PhD Zhivko Mitrevski, the President of MOSHA, Milan Petkovski, the President of OEM, Angel Dimitrov, representative from the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy of the Republic Macedonia, i.e. the social partners, employee representatives, OHS experts, representatives from educational institutions, media, representatives from relevant sectors and other stakeholders.
The purpose of this public debate was to discuss the views of all stakeholders in the promotion of safety and health at work and to discuss the conclusions and recommendations from the study: “The functioning of the bipartite dialogue on health and safety at work in the companies and the role and profile of OHS representatives in the country'.'

On the debate it was emphasized and concluded that the bipartite dialogue on safety and health at work between the unions and the employers in Macedonia has not been sufficiently developed and needs its intensification, because most of the OHS can be resolved on company level.
Caption 3. President Mitrevski on the press conference
Before the debate a press conference was organized on which the President of the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia, PhD Zhivko Mitrevski noted that the joint actions of the social partners is very important in the direction of providing secure jobs and reducing the number of workplace accidents.
- Nothing can be realized and achieved if all relevant stakeholders do not focus on law enforcement. Only through joint action by all social partners we can foster health and safety at work, said Mitrevski.
The President of the MOSHA, Milan Petkovski stressed that the important thing is to build a culture of preventive action, everyone to understand that a healthy worker is a benefit for any company.
According to the President of the Organization of Employers of Macedonia, Angel Dimitrov, it is important to increase the role of the persons responsible for safety and health at work in the companies because they are the people who are directly familiar with all workplace risks.
The OHS Law was adopted in 2007, and its amendments strengthened the role of the trade union president who has been given a pro-European manner of realization of activities, having opportunity at least twice a year to control the jobs and to be informed of all types of workplace injuries, i.e. an opportunity for greater control and having a corrective role in the whole OHS system on a company level.
