Dear,
Regarding the strike of the Trade Union for Education, Science and Culture (SONK) in educational institutions, we decided to take the next position.
As part of the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia, we share the common position for a linear increase in wages in the public sector by increasing the minimum wage by at least 2,800 denars, which we believe is a sustainable solution to increase wages for all at this time.
In addition, we demand that the Law on Teachers and Professional Associates regulate the future increase of salaries in education, as a percentage, in accordance with the increase of the minimum wage that will contribute to uniting the interests of private and public sector workers and eliminating personal desires and attitudes of individuals on which the salary increase in the coming period will no longer depend.
Depoliticization and dignity in education because we are witnessing that teachers are being abused in party caravans, it is a result of the current system of transformation of employment from fixed to indefinite time with many years of waiting.
We request, with the Law on Teachers and Professional Associates, to resolve the status of part-time employees and all future employment in education to be indefinite if they meet the legal requirements. It is the first step towards depoliticizing and preserving the dignity of educators.
If SONK supports this request of ours, we will officially join the Strike, and of course SSM has already announced that it is making available its capacities in order to implement the activities undertaken by the unions to increase salaries by at least 2,800 denars in a net for all employees, including educators.
Of course, our members are intellectuals and can always decide for themselves whether and when they will support the SONK strike, we leave it to them individually to make a decision to join. No one should put pressure on educators, and we do not make lists, we do not put pressure or impose our opinions for or against the strike.
