DOES THE MINISTRY OF LABOR AND SOCIAL POLICY AND THE GOVERNMENT WANT TO DAMAGE ALL THE WORKERS WHO HAVE BASIC MINIMUM WAGE?

The Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia is seriously concerned and surprised by the attempt of the Government through the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy to manipulate the lowest paid workers, those who actually expect care and protection from the state that claims to be democratic, social, and European oriented. In the Official Gazette No. 58 of March 16, 2023, it was announced that the amount of the minimum wage in the gross amount in the Republic of North Macedonia, starting from April 2023, is MKD 29,739.00.

This announcement is contrary to the amendment of Article 4 of the Law on Minimum Wage made by the Law on Amendments and Supplements to the Law on Minimum Wage Official Gazette no. 41 of February 24, 2022, which stipulates that the payment of the newly determined amount of the minimum salary will be made with the payment of the salary for the month of March of the current year.

In this way, the state makes an attempt to save by not correcting the salary of the poorest workers and citizens for one month, which is a precedent in the behavior of democratic systems and governments.

But thanks to the vigilance of the SSM, we believe that the injustice will be corrected, we point out the need for correction of the announcement by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy published in the Official Gazette and its alignment with the legal amendments.

SSM will always vigilantly monitor and be the corrector of bad government policies as soon as they harm the workers.
