At today's session of the Economic and Social Council, the initiative to ratify the Convention on OSH in Construction (No. 167) and to ratify the Convention on Safety and Health at Work in Mines No. 176 was accepted, which, after the completion of all procedures, they will become part of from the legal order in Macedonia and will significantly contribute to the improvement of the safety and health of workers in these activities.
The SSM always appears as the initiator of the adoption of ILO conventions, especially those that are significant for labor and social relations. Through the Economic-Social Council, the participation in the work of the parliamentary commissions, and in general, through its general agenda, the SSM strives to have the international conventions ratified by the Macedonian state and then to be implemented in the Macedonian legislation.
SSM, together with SGIP, submitted an initiative to the Economic and Social Council for the Ratification of the Convention on OSH in Construction (No. 167), due to the fact that construction workers are exposed to a greater risk in the workplace because they work in all kinds of locations, mostly at heights and different weather conditions, and together with the Trade Union for Industry, Energy and Mining of Macedonia - SIER submitted a request to the Economic - Social Council for the ratification of the Convention on Safety and Health at Work in Mines No. 176.
In the past period, with the support of the International Labor Organization, functional analyzes were made for each of them, promotional videos were made to promote and raise awareness of the need to ratify the conventions, and a presentation was held.
