The Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia (CCM) of its highest bodies (Presidency and Council of SSM), at today's sessions, unanimously decided to organize a mass protest on May 1 and to express the revolt about the non-increasing of other salaries with the increase of the minimum wage, which from this month increases from 15,200 to 18,000 denars.
The President of SSM Darko Dimovski said at a press conference that they are open to dialogue, and the other side as a social partner doesn't want to find joint solution to this important issue, as he said, to solve the problem.
- And that is very simple - 2,806mkd net amount linear increase of all salaries in the private and public sector from May 1, from the general worker to the President of the State.
With this, SSM proves that it is consistent with his request.
We call on all other confederations, unions, dissatisfied workers, retirees, citizens to join the protest.
On May 1, the fight will be on the street, not on the beaches and on the mountains.
We, the workers, should take this message seriously - to come out on May 1st and to fight for our rights.
Today, the union minimum consumer basket was published, the amount is 36,786 denars, increased by 922 denars because in January it amounted 35,811 denars, and this increasing means that it is necessary to increase all other salaries as soon as possible, said Dimovski.
The President of SSM, Dimovski called on all unions and confederations to join the SSM request which is a fair solution for all three social partners. He also did not rule out the possibility that the protest could turn into a general mass strike if the Government and employers in the public and private sector do not respond to the demands of the workers and SSM.
A general strike will means, the members of all unions in SSM to stop the work process during working hours- said Dimovski.
