On the occasion of the holding of the first intergovernmental conference and the beginning of the negotiations between the Republic of North Macedonia and the European Union, the Government sent an invitation to attend a formal cocktail, on 20.07.2022 WEDNESDAY, in the Club of PM, to the SSM.
We use the opportunity to inform you that SSM, together with 138,000 workers in the public sector, is on a general strike organized for the protection of economic and social rights and the realization of the following demands:
- conclusion of a General Collective Agreement for the public sector with a determined increase in the wages of employees in the public sector by MKD 2,806 in a net amount in accordance with the increase in the minimum wage published in Official Gazette of RNM no. 41 of February 24, 2022, established the right to annual recourse in the amount of 30% to 100% of the base.
Bearing in mind that the Government has an ignorant attitude towards the workers and their representatives regarding their existential demands and till present, no one has asked us for a conversation as representatives of the workers, nor has they answered or talked to the strikers regarding their existential demand, we appreciate the invitation for presence of the only representative trade union representative of the workers for a cocktail party, instead of an invitation to negotiate on the demands of the workers, in this moments is inappropriate and we cannot accept it, and for those reasons, we inform you that representatives of the SSM will not participate in celebrations that are not related to increasing the wages of workers in the public sector.
