MEETING BETWEEN THE PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERATION OF TRADE UNIONS OF MACEDONIA (SSM) SLOBODAN TRENDAFILOV AND MAGNUS BERGE, TECHNICAL SPECIALIST OF THE INTERNATIONAL LABOR ORGANIZATION (ILO) OFFICE FOR CENTRAL AND EASTERN EUROPE FOR WORKERS’ ORGANISATIONS
The President of the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia (SSM) Slobodan Trendafilov and the Secretary of the Council of SSM Zlatko Cvetkovski at the premises of SSM met with Mr. Magnus Berge, Technical Specialist of the International Labor Organization (ILO) Office for Central and Eastern Europe for Workers’ Organisations.
At the meeting, it was emphasized that the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia (SSM) and the International Labor Organization (ILO) through the ILO office in Skopje have excellent cooperation. This cooperation exist in many areas, but is particularly highlighted in the area of introduction and implementation of the international labor standards in the Republic of Macedonia, where SSM appears as the most frequent petitioner for the ratification of the International Labor Organization (ILO) Conventions in our country.
President Trendafilov added that the support from the International Labor Organization (ILO) is of great importance for SSM, bearing in mind that with their help the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia (SSM) became recognizable not only at national, but also at international level, when the first free mobile application by the name “SSM - My labor rights” was created, an application that today not only helps Macedonian workers, but at the same time is also seen as a good example and has already been taken over by Trade Unions from the region and beyond.
Strengthening the capacities of SSM in the area of collective bargaining, preparation of new legal solutions in the field of labor, development of the social dialogue at the central and local level were few of the subject discussed during the meeting, which stand out as topics of great importance for workers, trade unions and for the country in general. At the end of the meeting it was mutually agreed to work towards an even greater strengthening of the cooperation between SSM and ILO in the coming period, always with the priority of ensuring reinforcement and improvement of labor rights in the Republic of Macedonia.
