Caption 1. The President of the SMSSM at the meeting with the MP Hakverdi
The President of the Youth Section of SSM, (SMSSM), Irena Ivanovska, on June 2, 2018 in h. Park, Skopje, attended a meeting with the German MP in the Bundestag, Mr. Metin Hakverdi, organized by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, office in Skopje. The meeting was also attended by the Director of FES Skopje, Ms. Eva Ellereit.
Metin Hakverdi is a member of the Parliament of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) since 2008. His political engagement, among other things, is directed towards issues related to the European Union, but at the same time is a member of the parliamentary group for co-operation with southeastern Europe (Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro and Macedonia).
Within the framework of his visit to Macedonia, a meeting with representatives of youth organizations in Macedonia was held, on which issues related to the perspective of young people in Macedonia and migration trends, as well as their perception and attitudes about the processes of European integration were discussed.
The President of the SMSSM during the meeting emphasized the need for active involvement of the young people within the trade unions in order to improve the socio-economic situation of the youth through an institutionalized mechanism of making changes, through the union as one of the relevant social partners in the Republic of Macedonia.
