The President of The Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia (SSM) Slobodan Trendafilov and the Chief of SSM Cabinet Lile Petrova, at the premises of SSM, met with Mr. Emil Krstanovski, ILO National Coordinator for the Republic of Macedonia, Ms. Rania Bikhazi, ILO Specialist for Sustainable Enterprises, Productivity and Just Transition and Ms. Alessandra Molz, ILO Specialist for Skills and Employment from the Office of the International Labor Organization (ILO) for Central and Eastern Europe.
The main topics of discussion at the meeting were the processes for retraining programs for workers and all the legal restrictions and real possibilities, then what are the most common abuses of workers’ rights by employers and finally the processes of just transition and the danger and risk of losing jobs as a result.
The Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia (SSM) as the biggest and the only representative trade union in the country indicated and suggested that only through social dialogue at the central and local level, through active involvement of the National Economic and Social Council and the Local Economic and Social Councils exists the possibility to emerge appropriate solutions for the needs of both workers and employers in the various regions of the country, as a way to jointly deal with all consequences that will follow due to the just transition.
