Starting from September 10, a two-day meeting of the trade union economic experts, as part of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) network and the Pan-European Regional Council (ITUC-PERC), is being held in Skopje. At the meeting other than the participants are also present Mr. Magnus Berge, Technical Specialist of the International Labor Organization (ILO) Office for Central and Eastern Europe for Workers’ Organisations, Mr. Anton Leppik, Executive Secretary of ITUC - PERC, Ms. Enisa Salimovic from ITUC – PERC, Coordinator of the ITUC South-East European Office and the experts prof. Mr. Bruno Sergi from ETUI and Ms. Amalia Hammarlund from ITUC Just Transition Center.
The meeting was attended by experts from the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia (SSM), accompanied by the President of SSM, Mr. Slobodan Trendafilov, who, at the invitation of the organizers also opened the meeting and greeted the participants and the guest experts. In his opening speech he expressed his gratitude for their presence in Skopje and for all the support and solidarity they give to SSM and to other trade unions in the Republic of Macedonia, especially in this period when support is really needed the most, as a period in which Macedonian trade unions are fighting to preserve jobs, to increase the wages, to conclude collective agreements, to revive the social dialogue and at the end to improve workers’ rights as top priority for SSM as the biggest and only representative trade union in the country.
