Meeting of the President of SSM, Darko Dimovski with the new Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Jagoda Shahpaska

The President of SSM, Darko Dimovski, had a meeting with the new Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Jagoda Shahpaska, together with other union representatives.

At the meeting, President Dimovski informed the Minister Shahpaska that the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia as the only representative union in our country, always strives, and especially in these conditions, on behalf of the workers, members of the unions affiliated in CCM, as well as on behalf of all workers to protect their workers' rights.

In the following period, solutions must be found regarding several issues such as the issue with the fixed-term employment contracts that must be concluded only in exceptionally objective conditions and with a duration of up to 1 year; Sunday to be a day of weekly rest; promotion of collective bargaining (signing of GCA for private and public sector); Social dialogue at all levels; the minimum wage not be below 60% of the average wage etc. At the same time President Dimovski welcomed the accepted proposal of CCM for introduction of several retirement conditions in the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance, something that SSM has been insisting on for more than 10 years.

The Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Jagoda Shahpaska emphasized that in the following period the Labor Law shall be a priority for the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, as one of the most important Laws which was last adopted in 2005 and although until today has undergone changes, has shown a number of weaknesses in the problems faced by workers and that the priority of the new government is to preserve every job, as well as providing support for the most affected companies by the crisis.

The participants in the meeting jointly stated that the need for social dialogue is more than necessary in the coming period in order to overcome the challenges we will face, due to the severe impact of the corona virus in the country.
