SSM AND UPOZ SUPPORT THE WORKERS AT Municipal Center for Social Work in Prilep

The President of the UPOZ Trade Union Trpe Deanoski, together with the President of the SSM Slobodan Trendafilov, as well as the Presidents of SGIP Ivan Peshevski and AGRO Trade Union Igor Kitanoski, visited the Inter-Municipal Social Work Center in Prilep today, where they once again expressed their support for the colleague who was attempted to be murdered 3 days ago while performing her duty, as well as for the colleagues who work at the Center and who were exposed to danger to their lives.

They emphasized that they have already allocated a certain amount of money to support the recovery of the injured social worker.

"As a Trade Union, for years our only request has been for the safety of workers in the Social Work Centers. The public must already know that these colleagues behind us perform a very specific job task with the most marginalized groups in society. It is not the first time they have been physically attacked, it is not the first time they have been verbally attacked, but it is the first time someone has come here and shot with a gun," said Trpe Deanoski, President of UPOZ.

They requested physical protection for the centres and when they went into the field.

"However, the issue is not only to have physical security at the entrance to the Centers, the problem is that when these people go into the field, they are most threatened and attacked. These people have some of the lowest salaries in the country; they have no salary supplements, they have no paid duty, they have no readiness, they have nothing," added Deanoski.

The President of the Union of Social Workers of the Republic of Macedonia, Trpe Deanoski, and the President of the Union of Social Workers of the Republic of Macedonia, Slobodan Trendafilov, had a special meeting with the employees of the Inter-Municipal Center for Social Work in Prilep, where they discussed all important issues affecting the workers, such as their safety and health at work, low wages, working conditions, etc.

Concern was expressed that so far the employees have not been visited by any of the authorities and they are left to deal with the consequences of the unfortunate incident on their own.
