The Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia will not allow itself to be an opposition, nor a coalition partner of the government.
The trade union can and should only be a social partner that through social dialogue will strive to create an institutional infrastructure through which problems should be actively monitored and identified.
The government stopped the social dialogue, and the last meeting of the Social-Economic Council was held in May of this year, SSM President Darko Dimovski pointed out yesterday during the debate with the Minister of Labor and Social Policy Jovana Trenchevska on "Top Tema".
He emphasized the importance of maintaining that relationship through social dialogue, which, according to him, is key in this economic crisis to overcome
the problems faced by the workers.
Dimovski referred to the lawsuit filed by the Trade Union against the Government for non-compliance with Article 8 of the Minimum Wage Law and assured that the SSM will win the case comparing
the situation with the salary increase in the culture sector in which case, the Government respected exactly that article through the Collective Agreement concluded by the employer with the Culture Union.
The first person of SSM assessed as perfidious the game of the Government and the Chamber of Commerce of North Macedonia for Sunday to be a working day in tourist places. According to him, that request can be deepened, i.e. in the entire country, it should be requested that the working week be as the SCSM wanted to do with the initiative before the Constitutional Court, for which the SCSM is doing everything within its powers to not allow the right of the workers to abuses, and the Constitutional Court, through the report, confirmed this position of the SSM.
At yesterday's debate, Minister Trenčevska did not announce much that she would in terms of raising wages and improving labor rights, but for the realization of all that, she said that it is necessary to adopt the new methodology for raising wages, which should be
introduced by the end of the year. Trenchevska said that the Government is building a system for constant salary growth, while the president of SSM Dimovski believes that this should happen as soon as
rather because, according to him, the state will have no one to raise their salaries because, as he said, our workers are already building systems in foreign countries.
The methodology from the Government has been announced since the beginning of the year and they have been successful
drags on, and the personal income is not equal to the minimum wage, while the consumption basket and inflation have increased drastically in recent months.
The union will not allow politics, the people are hungry, and food prices and bills are high.
The increase of 9,000 denars in the minimum wage from 2017 will remain insignificant because the value of the Union minimum basket for December 2017 was 32,316 denars, and today it is 48,234 denars.
