SSM: AT THE MOMENT, IF THE MINIMUM WAGE WOULD INCREASE, IT WOULD AMOUNT TO 20,107.00 DENARS

The Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia, through labor struggle and pressure, protests, and social dialogue, although everyone was against it, ensured an increase in the minimum wage from MKD 15,196.00 to MKD 18,000.00, as well as a new legal model of its calculation in favor of the workers, without having the opportunity to influence either the government representatives or the bosses.

Harmonization of the minimum wage according to the Minimum Wage Law from this year is carried out by 50% of the increase in the average wage, which according to our calculations from January to November has increased by 10.3%, so 50% of the increase in the average wage is 5.15 %, as well as 50% of the increase in the cost of living, which according to the last published information from the NBRM until last month was 14.3% or 50% of the increase in the cost of living was 7.15%. (the data are taken from the State Statistics Office and NBRM)

According to the calculations, the cost of living and the increase in the average salary according to the latest data amount to a total of 24.6%, and according to the Minimum Wage Law, 50% of that or 12.3% is taken in the new calculation, so if the minimum wage were to increase at the moment salary according to the calculations of SSM means that: - in gross salary: 26 422.00 denars + 3 250.00 denars (29 672.00) denars will be the minimum salary from March next year or in net salary: -18.000.00 denars + 2,107.00 denars, the minimum salary will be (20,107.00) denars.

At the same time, SSM together with UPOZ, through the latest amendments to the Law on Administrative Officers, ensured that the basic salary component is also made up of the minimum wage, and thus about 13,000 workers who receive a salary according to this law will immediately receive a linear adjustment of their salaries for the amount for which the minimum wage will increase, that is, by MKD 2,107.00, and the same will happen to about 40,000 other employees in the public sector whose employers use the model from this law for calculating the wages of employees.

A large part of the unions united in the SSM through the already signed agreements and Collective Agreements at the employer level, and some by law, have provided this right to wage adjustment for their members in public enterprises, local self-government, ministries, etc.

Unions from the private sector are already talking with employers where there is a union and they are already announcing wage increases from the beginning of next year and before the increase of the minimum wage in order to keep good and qualified workers in their companies.

The trade union struggle gives the desired results no matter how much the officials and bosses don't like it.
