The value of the union minimum basket for the month of December 2024 is 62,861.00 denars, compared to the value of the union minimum basket for the month of November 2024, which is 62,021.00 denars, it has increased by 840.00 denars. With a rented apartment of 60 m2 for the month of December, it is 78,236.00 denars.
It is noteworthy that since September, when the first measure was introduced by the Government to limit margins, and with the last measure, i.e. the action to reduce prices by at least 10%, they have yielded results, the portion of food and beverages in the Union Minimum Basket, which for December amounted to 23,075.00 denars compared to September 2024 (23,034.00 denars), has increased by 41.00 denars, which confirms that measures are needed more often, taking into account that traders abuse every opportunity to enrich themselves at the expense of citizens and workers.
It is worrying that traders have again used the period before the last action came into force and have evidently increased prices, and in addition, the value of the Trade Union Minimum Basket for Food and Beverages for 63 basic products that are part of it for December, which is 23,075.00 denars, has been increased by an additional 397.00 denars, instead of being reduced by at least 10%.
The Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia demands that the measures last longer, so that the Government can significantly contribute to preserving the living standards of citizens, and that the next measure be taken without traders and businessmen being informed about it so that they do not commit abuses on the backs of citizens and workers again.
