The Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia, as the only representative trade union and current social partner, closely monitors and analyzes the situation in the country in economic terms.
The formalization of the informal economy is an area of high priority for the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia.
According to the State Statistical Office, the informal employment accounts for 13.55% of the total employment in the country.
The frequency of informal employment has negative consequences on the economy, the labour conditions in general and the policy-making process.
The analysis of CCM as a representative trade union shows that workers in the informal economy do not exercise their labor rights in accordance with the law, earn less than those in the formal sector, have unstable income and do not have access to mandatory social funds. Also, trade unions are not able to provide legal protection to those workers.
CCM as a current social partner is involved in all activities directed towards the reduction and elimination of all consequences: unfair competition, poverty reduction, providing productive employment by creating sustainable jobs, reforming the tax system and simplification of the regulations on the establishment and registration of enterprises and their inclusion in the formal economy.
CCM actively participates in the creation of the labor policies and strategies whose main goal is to alleviate unemployment and reduce the poverty rate.
CCM and the other social partners also have been monitoring all employment policies and strategies as well as the active labor market measures.
CCM has monitored the implementation of the Operational Programs, aimed at encouraging smart, sustainable and inclusive employment growth.
CCM, with the involvement of the preparation of the Labor Law, is committed to the adoption of the laws and amendments to the existing legislation that will provide greater motivation of workers and employers to formalize labor relations, i.e. to promote the formal economy.
We consider that the active role of the State Labor Inspectorate is of particular importance for the reduction of the informal economy. For these reasons, CCM and DIT conduct joint activities to detect undeclared workers in companies and regulate their.
The position of CCM is that we need integrated, joint activities of all institutions in the country. We appeal to workers to use the new free mobile application: “CCM - My labor rights” that has been developed together with the International Labor Organization, through which workers can report a violated labor right for themselves, for another person, or anonymously, as well as to communicate directly with CCM.
The campaign is being implemented within the project of the International Labor Organization - Strengthening Social Dialogue, funded by the European Union.
